Our Commitment to Accessibility

Quantum Zeitgeist is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all people, including those with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure Quantum Navigator is accessible to all users.


Conformance Status

Quantum Navigator strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more usable for everyone.

Current Status: Partially Conformant

“Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.


Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features on Quantum Navigator:

Semantic HTML - Proper use of headings, lists, and landmarks for screen reader navigation

Keyboard Navigation - All interactive elements accessible via keyboard (Tab, Enter, Arrow keys)

Skip Links - Ability to skip to main content (work in progress)

Clear Page Structure - Logical heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) for easy navigation

Breadcrumb Navigation - Clear indication of current location within the site

Visual Design

Responsive Design - Works on mobile devices, tablets, and desktops

Readable Fonts - Clear, legible typography (SUSE Mono, Bitcount Prop Single Ink)

Color Contrast - Text and background colors meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (ongoing verification)

Resizable Text - Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality

No Flashing Content - We avoid content that flashes more than 3 times per second

Content and Functionality

Alt Text for Images - Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images (ongoing improvement)

Form Labels - All form fields have associated labels

Error Identification - Clear error messages for form validation

Link Purpose - Link text describes the destination or purpose

Consistent Navigation - Navigation menus are consistent across pages

Technical Features

Valid HTML - Properly structured markup for assistive technology compatibility

ARIA Labels - Accessible Rich Internet Applications landmarks where appropriate

Focus Indicators - Visible focus states for keyboard navigation

Mobile Accessibility - Touch targets of adequate size (44x44px minimum goal)

⚠️ Filter Controls - Improving dropdown accessibility with proper ARIA attributes

⚠️ Dynamic Content - Adding live regions for search results and filter updates

⚠️ Alt Text - Ensuring all decorative and informational images have appropriate alt attributes

⚠️ Color Alone - Ensuring information is not conveyed by color alone (adding patterns/icons)

🔄 Search Functionality - Enhancing search with autocomplete ARIA support

🔄 Tables - Ensuring data tables have proper headers and scope attributes

🔄 Video/Media - Adding captions/transcripts when we introduce video content

🔄 PDF Accessibility - Ensuring any downloadable PDFs are accessible

Quantum Navigator has been tested with the following assistive technologies and browsers:

Note: We cannot guarantee perfect compatibility with all assistive technologies, but we strive to support the most commonly used tools.


Accessibility Standards

We aim to adhere to accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility:

Primary Standards

WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)

  • Developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
  • International standard for web accessibility
  • Target compliance level: AA (higher than minimum A)

Section 508 (U.S. Federal Accessibility Standard)

  • Applies to federal agencies and federally-funded projects
  • Substantially aligned with WCAG 2.0 Level AA

ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)

  • While not specifically a web standard, we strive for ADA compliance
  • Courts have applied ADA to websites in many jurisdictions

EN 301 549 (European Accessibility Standard)

  • European standard for ICT products and services
  • Harmonized with WCAG 2.1

Testing and Evaluation

We regularly evaluate Quantum Navigator for accessibility using:

Automated Testing

  • Lighthouse accessibility audits
  • WAVE (Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool)
  • axe DevTools browser extension
  • Color contrast analyzers

Manual Testing

  • Keyboard-only navigation testing
  • Screen reader testing (NVDA, VoiceOver)
  • Responsive design testing across devices
  • User testing with people with disabilities (planned)

Testing Frequency: We conduct accessibility reviews during development and at least quarterly for the live site.

Response Time

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days and resolve reported issues within 30 days when feasible.

For urgent accessibility issues preventing you from accessing critical information, please mark your email as “Urgent” and we will prioritize accordingly.

Third-Party Content

Some content on Quantum Navigator is provided by third parties:

Company Websites: Links to external company websites are not under our control and may not meet accessibility standards

Embedded Content: Social media embeds, ads, and other third-party content may have accessibility limitations

External Resources: We link to many external websites which we do not control

We select third-party services with accessibility in mind, but cannot guarantee their conformance. If you encounter accessibility issues with third-party content, please let us know so we can:

  1. Contact the provider about the issue
  2. Seek an alternative provider if necessary
  3. Provide the information in an accessible alternative format

Motion Control - No essential content requires motion or gestures alone
