SeQure Quantum

SeQure Quantum is a Chilean quantum cybersecurity startup founded in 2019, incubated at Universidad de Concepción and spun off from the University of Concepción and University of Gdansk (Poland). The company specializes in quantum random number generation systems for device-independent self-testing certified random numbers, thwarting cyberattacks. SeQure Quantum developed the first quantum computer made in Chile and was named Startup of the Year 2023 by El Mercurio newspaper and the Swiss Embassy. The company has raised $128 million in funding and launched a Poland-based office in 2023 for European market relations. In 2024, SeQure Quantum partnered with Thales to boost technologies in the space market and is advancing medical cybersecurity with quantum technology in Chile. The company provides quantum cybersecurity solutions protecting healthcare, space, and enterprise sectors from quantum threats.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) was founded in 1987 by Morris Chang as world’s first dedicated semiconductor foundry, headquartered in Hsinchu Science Park in Hsinchu, Taiwan. TSMC commands 62% market share in semiconductor fabrication in 2024 and has made significant moves in photonic chip manufacturing assembling team of about 200 researchers focused on ultra-high-speed silicon photonic chips collaborating with Broadcom and Nvidia. In April 2024 TSMC announced production start of silicon photonic chips. TSMC is involved in quantum computing research and fabrication with NTU-TSMC Research Center’s major research interests including quantum computing using Si qubit. Quantum random number generator (QRNG) chip designs have been submitted for fabrication to TSMC. Research focuses include quantum computing from fundamental qubit devices to integration of multiple qubits, qubit test, and noise analysis. TSMC serves quantum computing manufacturers, photonic quantum computing companies, and quantum research institutions requiring advanced semiconductor fabrication for quantum processors and photonic quantum chips.
