Qbird is a spin-off from Delft University of Technology that develops quantum-based hardware and software solutions providing ultra-secure data communications and protection for critical infrastructures. The company has successfully deployed multi-user, multipoint-to-multipoint Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) networks including operational installations in Utrecht connecting data centers, university buildings, and research facilities, and the world’s first quantum-safe industrial internet at the Port of Rotterdam. Qbird won the Dutch IT Channel Award 2025 in the Networking & Edge Innovator category and received β¬1 million in subsidies to advance QKD technology, with partnerships including Eurofiber to integrate quantum security into commercial networks and ambitious goals to operate 60 quantum networks across Europe, Asia, and North America by 2030.
