The British Geological Survey, based in Keyworth, uses quantum magnetometers to watch how geomagnetic storms affect different parts of the UK. Five such sensors, built by the University of Strathclyde and STFC RAL Space, were installed in 2025 at Aberystwyth, Boulby, Blickling, Chilbolton and Thurso, filling gaps between the BGS's three magnetic observatories. BGS is a partner in QuSIT, the national hub for quantum sensing, imaging and timing, as it was in the earlier Sensors and Timing hub that funded the magnetometer work.

British Geological Survey is a research organisation in Keyworth. It appears as a partner in QuSIT and UK Quantum Technology Hub in Sensors and Timing.
