Caledonian Photonics is a Scottish micro-SME making compact, rugged solid-state lasers, the kind of light source cold-atom sensors and clocks depend on. In December 2024 the Photonics and Quantum Accelerator funded a project in which University of Strathclyde researchers and the company are developing a diode-pumped, narrow-linewidth laser for quantum sensing and timing. It was also part of the consortium behind Infleqtion's May 2024 flight trials of quantum navigation hardware at MoD Boscombe Down, and a partner in the Fraunhofer CAP-led QT Assemble programme.
Caledonian Photonics is a company in Glasgow. It is a partner in 1 UK project: QT Assemble.

The UK has successfully tested quantum navigation technology developed by Infleqtion, in collaboration with BAE Systems and QinetiQ, that cannot be jammed or spoofed by hostile actors. The technology, which includes the compact Tiqker optical atomic clock and a tightly confined ultra-cold-atom-based
