When BT and Toshiba launched their quantum-secured metro network in London in April 2022, EY signed up as its first commercial customer, using quantum key distribution over Openreach fibre to link its offices in Canary Wharf and near London Bridge. The firm also tracks how British business is preparing for quantum computing through readiness surveys run with the National Quantum Computing Centre. Its June 2026 Quantum Business Readiness Report polled 500 leaders of UK companies with revenues above £150m: 87% expected quantum to disrupt their industry by 2030, yet only 35% had made it a strategic priority.
