    Company · Birmingham

Train-mounted sensors are MoniRail's core product: inertial units fitted to in-service passenger trains log track geometry and ride quality for predictive maintenance, a business that came out of the ICURe programme at the University of Birmingham. Its quantum project is a satellite-free positioning system for trains in tunnels. A Quantum Catalyst Fund phase 2 contract in February 2024 backed the work, with Imperial College London, the University of Sussex, QinetiQ, PA Consulting and Transport for London in the consortium. On 3 March 2026 its Rail Quantum Inertial Navigation System ran on a Great Northern service between London and Welwyn Garden City, under GBRX.

MoniRail is a Birmingham company. It appears as a partner in Quantum Sensing Mission Primer and Quantum Catalyst Fund.
