Royal Holloway's quantum strength is ultra-low-temperature physics, run from the London Low Temperature Laboratory in Egham, where its Centre for Advanced Quantum Science and Technology studies materials that limit the coherence of superconducting qubits and builds quantum sensors for dark matter searches. The group is an international partner of SQMS, the Fermilab-hosted US centre whose $125m five-year renewal was announced in November 2025, and works with NPL. Royal Holloway is also a partner in QCi3, the Oxford-led national quantum computing hub.

Royal Holloway, University of London, in Egham, appears in three UK quantum projects listed here. It appears as a partner in QCi3, QCS and AQuaSeC.
