    Company · Cambridge

4colors Research writes optimisation solvers for scheduling, routing, packing and assignment, and treats quantum computers as accelerators for parts of those searches rather than replacements. It took first place in the Airbus and BMW Group Quantum Computing Challenge and reached the semifinals of the XPRIZE quantum applications competition. Through the NQCC's SparQ programme it led a consortium with Airbus, ORCA Computing and the NQCC, with DNV observing, that ran hybrid algorithms for aircraft cargo loading on gate-based and photonic hardware and benchmarked them against classical methods.

4colors Research, based in Cambridge, is a company whose work covers quantum software and optimisation; it was founded in 2016. It leads 1 UK project (Quantum-Accelerated Mixed-Integer Optimisation for Aircraft Loading).
