NIHR, the government's health and care research funder, supports quantum work mainly through Q-BIOMED, the UCL-led hub for quantum biomedical sensing. Its contribution, with BBSRC and MRC, formed part of the £106m public investment in five quantum research hubs announced in July 2024. In September 2026 NIHR funding backed a project at UCL's Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health to adapt Siloton's photonic-chip eye scanner so children with sight-threatening conditions can be monitored at home or in the community.

National Institute for Health and Care Research is a public funder based in London. It funds Q-BIOMED.
