    QLM Technology sells a methane camera built on quantum lidar: a low-power diode laser paired with single-photon avalanche detectors scans a whole oil, gas or water site, then locates each leak and sizes it in real units. The company spun out of the University of Bristol in 2017, founded by Xiao Ai, and now works from Bristol, Cardiff and Paignton. A £12m Series A in 2022, led by SLB, made the oilfield services group its largest shareholder and exclusive upstream and midstream sales channel. UK customers include Severn Trent, and Paul Hughes is chief executive.
