Quantum research at Queen's splits between theory and security. Mauro Paternostro's Quantum Technology group (QTeQ) in the School of Mathematics and Physics works on quantum information processing and the thermodynamics of quantum systems, while Máire O'Neill's Secure Connected Devices programme at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies designs post-quantum cryptographic hardware and studies weaknesses in QKD systems. The university is a partner in the Integrated Quantum Networks and QEPNT hubs, and QTeQ co-leads CoQREATE, a €3 million US-Ireland quantum internet partnership launched in July 2022.

Queen's University Belfast is a university in Belfast with four quantum projects in this directory. It is a partner in 4 UK projects, including IQN, QEPNT and EPSRC Quantum Communications Hub.
