    Company · Hayes

CPI TMD Technologies, a microwave and RF equipment maker in Hayes, Middlesex, has built a quantum navigation line around cold atoms. Its HARLEQUIN system combines a clock, a ring laser gyroscope and a MEMS accelerometer with a quantum accelerometer based on a grating magneto-optical trap (gMOT) developed with Strathclyde and Kelvin Nanotechnology, using the atoms to correct drift when satellite positioning is unavailable. Funded by Innovate UK, HARLEQUIN completed sea trials aboard Trinity House's THV Galatea, announced in December 2025. TMD was earlier a partner in M Squared's DISCOVERY consortium on supply chains for quantum computing (2020 to 2024).

TMD Technologies, based in Hayes, is a company. It is a partner in 2 UK projects: Developing an error corrected quantum processor solution for commercial quantum computing and DISCOVERY.
