Canterbury hosted the first SparQ Access Showcase on 30 September and 1 October 2026, a National Quantum Computing Centre event run by Kent's Quantum Applications Research Centre (QuARC). QuARC links physics, computing and the business school, with groups in applied optics, quantum materials and cyber security; Dr Jorge Quintanilla directs it. Kent researchers use NQCC-provided cloud quantum hardware for work on autonomous vehicles, bitcoin mining's data demands and the threat quantum computers pose to cryptography. The university is also listed as an academic partner of the York-led Quantum Communications Hub.
University of Kent, in Canterbury, appears in one UK quantum project listed here. It appears as a partner in EPSRC Quantum Communications Hub.
