The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is the main public backer of the University of Bristol's Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre (QTIC), which helps quantum start-ups become commercially viable. It approved £20m in October 2019 to expand the centre on the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, and its backing has since reached £35m, with the campus due to open in 2026. In November 2025 the authority, the university and Elevate Quantum, the Denver-based US regional consortium, signed a transatlantic agreement creating a Quantum Growth Bridge between the West of England and the Mountain West.
West of England Combined Authority is a government body based in Bristol. It funds QTIC.
