Quantum Base makes Q-ID, an anti-counterfeiting tag that anyone can check with a smartphone: the phone's flash excites atoms on the tag, which emit light in a pattern fixed by their exact arrangement, and the camera checks it against the tag's registered record within three seconds. The Lancaster University spin-out, built on Robert Young's research, joined London's AIM market as QUBE in April 2025, and its largest customer is an international security printer using Q-IDs on government tax stamps. In November 2025 it signed a 15-year, £9.4 million deal to tag artworks in a global art registry, the first use of its Q-RAND random number generator.
