    Photarix is developing quantum-ring single-photon LEDs, chip-scale emitters meant to supply single photons for quantum key distribution at telecom wavelengths and at or near room temperature, avoiding the cryogenic cooling many single-photon sources need. A Lancaster University spin-out built on chief executive Gizem Acar Tekin's PhD research, with Lancaster professor Manus Hayne as chief scientific officer, it has been supported by ICURe, CyberASAP and North West CyberCom. The company exhibited at November 2025's National Quantum Technologies Showcase in London.

    Photarix, based in Lancaster, is a company whose work covers quantum security, photonics and qkd; it was founded in 2025. It is not yet linked to a UK project in this directory. People profiled here include Gizem Acar Tekin (CEO and Co-Founder) and Manus Hayne (CSO and Co-Founder).
