ULTRARAM, the memory Quinas Technology is commercialising, is classical rather than a qubit store: it uses quantum resonant tunnelling in III-V semiconductors to hold data with flash-like persistence while switching at DRAM-class speed. Professor Manus Hayne invented it at Lancaster University, where the company keeps its R&D labs; its headquarters are in London. A £1.1m Innovate UK project, coordinated by Quinas, moved growth of the antimonide layers from 3-inch wafers at Lancaster to 6-inch production at IQE in Cardiff, and has since been completed. Quinas also won a 2025 WIPO Global Award.

Quinas Technology is a London company working on quantum materials and components, founded in 2023. No project in this directory lists it yet. Profiled here: James Ashforth-Pook (CEO).
