Project data last updated 11 October 2026
The National Quantum Technologies Programme (NQTP) was set up in 2014 as a 10-year programme by government research agencies. Its first phase ran from 2014 to 2019 and its second from 2019 to 2024. Partners include EPSRC, Innovate UK, STFC, NPL, Dstl, GCHQ, the Ministry of Defence and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
The programme funds the national network of quantum research hubs, skills training, the National Quantum Computing Centre and industry competitions. In 2019 the government said total investment in the programme had passed £1 billion. In March 2026 it said the programme had been backed by more than £1 billion of public funding.
