Quantum Fabrix, trading as QFX, makes components for trapped-ion and neutral-atom machines. Its first product, the Miniaturised Atom Source, is a low-power, optically heated source that sends a tight beam of atoms into an ion trap and works from room temperature down to 4 kelvin. Spun out of Joe Goodwin's networked ion-trap group at Oxford in 2024, it closed a £2 million seed round led by Paul Graham in October 2025 and won £700,000 of Phase 1 government funding for its SrROCK timing and sensing project the following month. Oxford ion-trap researchers then showed, in January 2026, that a QFX prototype could load ions in under a millisecond.

Quantum Fabrix, based in Kidlington, is a company whose work covers quantum components, hardware and trapped ion; it was founded in 2024. It is a partner in 1 UK project: Quantum Sensing Mission Primer. Profiled here: Timothy Ballance (CEO).
