QTA-Foil (Quantum and Tensor Approaches to aeroFoil design)
Aegiq and BAE Systems estimated the quantum resources needed to speed up aerodynamic and hydrodynamic design.
Project data last updated 11 October 2026
About this project
Computational fluid dynamics is used to design wings, hulls and other shapes. Aegiq led the project with BAE Systems and the NQCC, with NVIDIA as an observer.
The team combined GPU and quantum processor expertise to set out timescales and resource needs for quantum-accelerated fluid dynamics. It was one of the NQCC SparQ proof of concept projects for 2025-26.

How Do Photonic Quantum Computers Work?, read on Quantum Zeitgeist
Photonic quantum computers encode a qubit in a single particle of light, steer it through a programmable maze of glass and count it with superconducting detectors, and the chips come off ordinary 300 millimetre semiconductor lines. As of mid-2026 no photonic platform has demonstrated a peer-reviewed
