    Seventeen direct and indirect quantum positions, spanning sensing, computing, networking, photonics and semiconductors, sat in NSSIF's book by March 2026, when the government's deep tech venture fund for national security said it had supplied about 4% of UK quantum investment in 2024. Run jointly with the British Business Bank, the fund backs dual-use startups directly and through venture funds, and places companies on work programmes with government users. Quantum holdings include Nu Quantum and ORCA Computing, and it was a returning investor in Riverlane's £15m Series B in April 2023.
