    Quantum Communications Hub

    Research organisation · York

The Quantum Communications Hub was the University of York-led national research hub for quantum-secure communications, running from 2014 to 2024 under director Tim Spiller with ten universities and partners including BT, ID Quantique and NPL. It received £24m for its first phase plus £2m to extend the UK Quantum Network, then £23.5m for 2019 to 2024. That network carried a 410km demonstration between Bristol and Cambridge, reported in April 2025, combining two kinds of quantum key distribution. The hub also began the SPOQC CubeSat mission; its work continues in the Heriot-Watt-led Integrated Quantum Networks Hub.

Quantum Communications Hub, based in York, is a research organisation whose work covers quantum communications; it was founded in 2014. No project in this directory lists it yet.
