Didcot electronics designer building single-photon detectors and UK-made QKD receivers, lead of the MARCONI and SEQOND projects.
A RedWave Labs-led consortium building two UK-made receiver modules for entanglement-based quantum key distribution.
Project data last updated 11 October 2026
MARCONI ran from July 2024 to March 2026. One receiver uses four-channel single-photon avalanche detectors from Phlux, packaged by Bay Photonics, for short links.
The second uses a 64-channel superconducting nanowire detector system from the University of Glasgow, cooled by a 1 K system from Chase Cryogenics, for long-distance links.
